JLS to launch condom range

Pop group JLS are to launch their own range of condoms in order to promote safe sex.

The foursome are thinking of calling their new product ‘Just Love Safe’, a title inspired by their own name, the Sun reported.

According to the newspaper, the idea was formed when the stars joked about contraception during a recent interview with the tabloid.

Condom sellers Durex then got in touch with them about possibly working together on the new range and JLS have agreed in principle.

It is thought that the condoms will be colour-coordinated to reflect the different tastes of the singers.

Band member Aston Merrygold told the publication: “It’s all about staying safe. We all think so.

“My mum sends me down a stash [of condoms] and I dish them out to the lads so none of us have to worry. I’d really be up for doing some kind of campaign about

Fantasy or Fetish?

When does a fantasy become a fetish? Do men fetishise sex more than women? Are the sexes really programmed that differently or is this just another common myth?

We often hear told that women want hearts, flowers and romance and are often happier with a cuddle than a really good f**k, whilst at the same time we’re told that men are simple creatures, easily pleased and able to separate sex from love, but is this the truth? Are the genders really so different in the expression of our deepest desires and urges?

When lying in bed with my lover this weekend, I began to complain that I didn’t want to talk dirty but wanted to just “make love” for a change. You know...just you and me, Claudia and Mr Claudia without all of the fantasy. I was pouting and complaining in a lighthearted kind of a way, but underlying this comment was a bit of a weekend ‘whinge’...."darling our sex life has become too pornified! Can we just make love please, never mind all of this fantasy?!” His reply: “But baby, are you suggesting you don’t enjoy our ‘play’ as much as I do?”

My first response was to state that yes, I thought perhaps he was more into it than I, at which point he called me on it. “But you have all kinds of fetishes in relation to sex, just as many as I do”. “No I don’t!” Simple. I denied it! And he called me again, this time giving examples of some of his ‘fetishes’ and offering me examples of what he considered to be some of mine. I began to contemplate whether this felt true; were these examples he was offering me really fetishes?

I asked Mr C. about why men (most of the men I’ve known at least) seemingly enjoy a different kind of sex to women (as in fucking over love making). Don’t get me wrong, I’m not painting everything with a generalising brush here and I know there are crossovers, however there also seem to be certain patterns I’ve noticed. Are men really so much more straightforward about it and able to separate sex and love? Why do they seem to shy away from what women refer to more as ‘love making’?

His theory was that men are generally very task and object driven in life, and that this makes them feel very grounded. In sex they are no different. There is a ‘task’ at hand, an objective and a goal as outcome; to orgasm and ejaculate. He suggested that the more ‘touchy feely’ approach often favoured by women makes men feel uncomfortable as it’s too intangible, too much weighted in feelings and the subjective as opposed to actions and the objective. I found this fascinating.

We continued to talk - when does a fantasy become a fetish? He mentioned several of what he thought of as my ‘fetishes’. No, I disagreed; I fantasise about that but it’s not a fetish. There’s no obsession there (in the first example or two he offered at least). Then he mentioned two more, one not even sexually motivated, and it was here that he finally found an admission. Yes, I admit to having a fetish...about shoes! (and about several sexual activities that shall remain private).

We discovered that for both of us, a fetish creates a physical trigger and is inherently related to the body, wheras a fantasy often remains happily placed within the realms of the imagination, or the mind. So for example (using shoes as it’s more convenient to illustrate my point), when I’m shopping and see gorgeous shoes I have to seriously battle not to stop, touch them, sniff them, try them on and admire them, and then fight even harder not to buy them when I cannot afford them or don’t actually need them. I become physically stimulated and this stimulus is directly connected to my sensory awareness and the erotic drive in me. I lust after them and feel driven to fulfill this fetished urge. When I’m wearing certain shoes, I become the fetish object. By contrast I have a big doctor fantasy yet I can happily enter a GP’s surgery and not get triggered into physical response, therefore I consider this a fantasy rather than a fetish. Were I to get a Pavlovian response to the examination table for example, or to the stirrups, then I would call it a fetish.

Men, it would seem, have many more fetishes than women, or at least my man has many more than I do! He offered examples of all of his male friends and the things he/they fetishise about; panties, hosiery, air hostesses, cheerleaders, white knee-high, socks, cunnilingus, spanking, and so much more, yet for me, though I may enjoy playing with some of these things, for the most part they remain ‘fantasy’ and do not invoke a phyiscal response or any kind of mildly obsessive behaviour.

Does this difference (if you agree there is one) between the sexes hold true for others? Is it bound to cause problems? Can it be understood and accepted thus creating a more peaceful way of being in relationship? What would it take for couples for whom there is a vast chasm between their mutual understanding and desires to feel comfortable with each other’s sexuality? So far I have found about 4 things I’d consider having a fetish for whereas my man hadn’t stopped formulating his list before it was time to get up!

Gays in the Military

There are some common themes in arguments against allowing gays to serve openly in the military and most (if not all) are downright misleading. The most commonly used argument is that allowing gays to serve openly would weaken the military making America vulnerable to attack from “the enemies”. The people who most often make these arguments almost always start out with one of the following and work up using any number of the following until they get the the point where they claim that America will be at risk. Gays will be lurking over and stalking cadets in an attempt to convert them to the gay lifestyle. Gays will stalk heterosexual men in the showers. Gays will rape men in their bunks. Gays will weaken morale because they would cause stress and shame to the heterosexual servicemen. Christians will not join the military because allowing gays to serve openly would go against everything that they believe in. One of the more obscure claims is that gays are waiting anxiously for your young to enter the military to that they can have them to lust after and to sexually harass. Where does one begin when trying to point out the flawed logic in the “arguments” that I just listed? I am not sure but I’ll give it a shot.

Gays are just like anyone and everyone else. This is not a liberal statement. This is not a progressive statement. This is a genuinely true statement and here is the logic behind that statement. Even if being gay is a choice that should have nothing to do with the whole of what someone is. Placing so much emphasis on who one pokes and how they poke them is just plain stupid and it is what kids in middle school and high school do. Being gay or bisexual does not make one weaker or weirder and being straight does not make make one stronger or “more normal”. People are people. That is the simplest way to put it. Building on that I’ll add that in any and all groups of people there are freaks and there are “normals”. Not all gays are into the uniforms fetish. The same goes with the straights. Not all gays dress up and go out in public in outrageous outfits to promote their thing. The same goes for the straights. Yous see where I am going with this. To claim that gays are sex crazed pedophiles who are into stalking heterosexuals and kids is just plain crazy. It is illogical. If you were to do a Google search in images using the words Gay Military while in Moderate mode you’ll find some gay uniform and gay military fetish images. The same goes for videos and for websites. These images, videos and websites are not meant o be taken as documentaries or as factual events. They are there for them that have that sort of fetish and not all gays have that fetish. If you Google Hot Military you’ll begin to see women in uniform. Google Sexy Military and you’ll get fetish costumes aimed at heterosexual men but I don’t think that women dress and or act like the ones in the images and or videos.

Once that logic has been pointed out all that the opposing voices have left is religion and that is pretty much where we as a nation have come at this point and time on this issue. Christian servicemen are portrayed as fragile and overly sensitive types who if exposed to so much as a man looking at their junk while in the shower will either need psychological help or will go on a “justified” fight or flight attack. If one is to take serious the claims made by some out there about Christian men in the military one would have to think that perhaps the problem here is not homosexuality but Christianity. If someone is so emotionally and mentally fragile that a gay man in their presence will cause them to break down then what in the hell would that person do on the battlefield in the middle of an all out assault? If that is what we currently have serving our country then we need to drop the gay issue and move right to the issue of emotional and or mental weakness as being more of a cause for alarm.

It’s a non-issue. Gays should be allowed to openly serve. It’s just that simple.
