Hey everyone!

This is Jo reporting in from America. I just wanted to say hello to all my beloved and sorely missed UK friends. I also wanted to give a quick update in case any where curious.

Things have been rather slow here in America. Been looking for work, also been trying to start transitioning. Sadly both things have been slow. Hopefully once I get a full-time job I can plan a trip to the UK to see everyone again. Maybe by then CCK will have a venue!

Inside the Maid Cafes of Tokyo—Japan’s Cleanest Fetish

From used-panty vending machines to tentacle porn, it is often hard to imagine how things could be odder than Japan’s indigenous fetishes. To their credit though, the Japanese continue to the raise the bar.

Take, for example, the novelty known as the “maid cafe” found in the Akihabara district of Tokyo. Relatively unheard of outside Japan, the maid cafe represents a mix of Japanese fetishism and obsessiveness rarely present in other cultures.

In 2001, the Cure Maid Cafe opened its doors in Tokyo’s high-tech district of Akihabara. From this single cafe spawned a new industry; there are currently more than 200 maid cafes in Japan.

An enthusiastic “Welcome home, master!” greets visitors as they enter the maid cafe while a handful of attractive young ladies dressed in maid costumes stand ready to serve their new guests.

Once inside the cafe, the interior looks basic and Spartan, like what you might find in a corporate cafeteria. From the stage area, patrons can be photographed with the maids or engage in more embarrassing activities like a song duet.

Activities vary slightly by cafe, but all keep to the same basic theme. The more time spent being entertained by the maid, the more money will be involved. Most places have a one-drink minimum starting at around $6 with a maximum stay of one hour.

Other activities like one-on-one conversation with a maid can cost upwards of $90 per hour. The more cash one is willing to dole out, the more lavish and doting the attention they are given.

It’s generally accepted that members of Akihabara’s geek culture fuel the maid-cafe economy. Most regular folks off the street describe the typical maid cafe regular as socially awkward, with difficulty maintaining traditional male-female relationships.

That’s probably just speculation, but based on observation of the Akihabara subculture, the regulars do seem to take their time in the maid cafes seriously.

Many bring their own cosplay props for pictures with the maids, and are well known in the cafes they frequent.

Most recently, niche cafes have begun to sprout up, offering everything from chubby maids to servers dressed as nuns.

The lesson here? If there is a niche, the Japanese will explore and exploit it.

Obama orders hospital visit rights for gays, lesbians

President Barack Obama has told the Department of Health and Human Services to establish a rule that would not allow hospitals to deny visitation privileges to gay and lesbian partners.

The president’s memo Thursday notes that “There are few moments in our lives that call for great compassion and companionship that when a loved one is admitted to the hospital ... Yet every day, all across America, patients are denied the kindnesses and caring of a loved one at their sides ...”

Gay and lesbian Americans are “uniquely affected” by the relatives-only policy at hospitals, Obama said, adding that they “are often barred from the bedsides of the partners with whom they may have spent decades of their lives - unable to be there for the person they love, and unable to act as a legal surrogate if their partner is incapacitated.”

The president listed widowers without children and members of certain religious orders among those who suffer under the policy.

Gays in the Military

There are some common themes in arguments against allowing gays to serve openly in the military and most (if not all) are downright misleading. The most commonly used argument is that allowing gays to serve openly would weaken the military making America vulnerable to attack from “the enemies”. The people who most often make these arguments almost always start out with one of the following and work up using any number of the following until they get the the point where they claim that America will be at risk. Gays will be lurking over and stalking cadets in an attempt to convert them to the gay lifestyle. Gays will stalk heterosexual men in the showers. Gays will rape men in their bunks. Gays will weaken morale because they would cause stress and shame to the heterosexual servicemen. Christians will not join the military because allowing gays to serve openly would go against everything that they believe in. One of the more obscure claims is that gays are waiting anxiously for your young to enter the military to that they can have them to lust after and to sexually harass. Where does one begin when trying to point out the flawed logic in the “arguments” that I just listed? I am not sure but I’ll give it a shot.

Gays are just like anyone and everyone else. This is not a liberal statement. This is not a progressive statement. This is a genuinely true statement and here is the logic behind that statement. Even if being gay is a choice that should have nothing to do with the whole of what someone is. Placing so much emphasis on who one pokes and how they poke them is just plain stupid and it is what kids in middle school and high school do. Being gay or bisexual does not make one weaker or weirder and being straight does not make make one stronger or “more normal”. People are people. That is the simplest way to put it. Building on that I’ll add that in any and all groups of people there are freaks and there are “normals”. Not all gays are into the uniforms fetish. The same goes with the straights. Not all gays dress up and go out in public in outrageous outfits to promote their thing. The same goes for the straights. Yous see where I am going with this. To claim that gays are sex crazed pedophiles who are into stalking heterosexuals and kids is just plain crazy. It is illogical. If you were to do a Google search in images using the words Gay Military while in Moderate mode you’ll find some gay uniform and gay military fetish images. The same goes for videos and for websites. These images, videos and websites are not meant o be taken as documentaries or as factual events. They are there for them that have that sort of fetish and not all gays have that fetish. If you Google Hot Military you’ll begin to see women in uniform. Google Sexy Military and you’ll get fetish costumes aimed at heterosexual men but I don’t think that women dress and or act like the ones in the images and or videos.

Once that logic has been pointed out all that the opposing voices have left is religion and that is pretty much where we as a nation have come at this point and time on this issue. Christian servicemen are portrayed as fragile and overly sensitive types who if exposed to so much as a man looking at their junk while in the shower will either need psychological help or will go on a “justified” fight or flight attack. If one is to take serious the claims made by some out there about Christian men in the military one would have to think that perhaps the problem here is not homosexuality but Christianity. If someone is so emotionally and mentally fragile that a gay man in their presence will cause them to break down then what in the hell would that person do on the battlefield in the middle of an all out assault? If that is what we currently have serving our country then we need to drop the gay issue and move right to the issue of emotional and or mental weakness as being more of a cause for alarm.

It’s a non-issue. Gays should be allowed to openly serve. It’s just that simple.

Porn in Parliament?

One of Britain’s best known porn directors, Anna Span, is standing as a parliamentary candidate for the Liberal Democrats in the forthcoming General Election. She will be contesting the Gravehsam, Kent seat under her married name of Anna Arrowsmith.

As well as directing, Anna Span is also the MD of ‘Easy on the Eye’ and the current Chair of the trade body AITA (Adult Industry Trade Association). She has been the recipient of several awards for her work, including Best British Film Brand at the 2008 ETO Awards.

If elected, Span will pass over the running of her business to a manager as the job of an MP is “contrary to popular opinion, very full time if done properly so there is no way I could do both” She added she would retain her pride in the adult industry and continue to fight for it when a relevant question is asked, for example on file sharing, but like every MP she would not be allowed to prioritise one industry or sector over another.

The PC Porn Detector

Paraben has announced the launch of its USB Porn Detection Stick. The device will search through all the images stored on a computer , scan them for pornographic content, and create a report of suspected pornographic images. It even scans deleted images and internet cache files and as no software is installed during the search the owner of the PC will not be aware the search has taken place.

A search of a 500GB Hard drive with over 70,000 images take around an hour and a half. The porn detection stick uses image analysing algorithams that categorise images as potentially harmful by identifying facial features, flesh tone colours, image backgrounds and body part shapes.

using its existing age verification system to protect minors, Vodaphones JIL-based app store will have a separate catagory for the sort of content Apple seem to wish to distance itself from.
