ONE MONTH LEFT: COFFEE, CAKE & KINK LOYALTY CARD

Hundreds servings of coffee and cake and goodies to the value of thousands of pounds, that’s how much we have given away on the Coffee, Cake & Kink Loyalty Card.

Introduced as a launch offer in December 2003, the Loyalty Card was originally valid for one year only, but has proved so popular that we have not had the heart to withdraw it. Due to a host of business reasons, it is time to put it to bed now so please kindly use any remaining credits by the end of June.

We first gave you thumbs up to use up your Loyalty Cards in December, and the six-months phase-out period will finish next month. We would hate anyone to lose the treats they have been looking forward to, so please kindly let your friends know, too.

Naturally, we will continue to look after you, and the loyal Coffee, Cake & Kink crowd in particular. Landlord adventures allowing, we hope to introduce electronic Loyalty/Gift cards, which would enable our online customers to benefit from discounts and special offers just like those who visit us in person.

Now that the old Loyalty Card phase out is over, we are now reviewing how it all all went and would be grateful for your feedback.

To recap, we first encouraged people to use up their Loyalty Cards six months ago, in our December newsletter, and several other mail outs mentioned that. Staff were telling people in-store for three months. There were also announcements on our website and forums.

The main reason for this were of course the Landlord issues, and the fact that what we thought may be done and dusted, unfortunately is still not resolved. We felt the day might come when we may no longer be around and so it was better to call it in in advance, and take good care of everyone.

All going well, we wish to continue looking after the loyal Coffee, Cake & Kink crowd an introduce electronic Loyalty/Gift cards, which would enable our online customers to benefit from discounts and special offers just like those who visit us in person.

Before we bask in the warm feeling of having one up on rest of the high street (ever got such courteous treatment anywhere else at all?), we invite and will appreciate constructive criticism and your honest feedback: is there anything that you think we could have done better? Anything we didn’t do and should have done?

In terms of administration and ease of use, I’d be tempted to stick with physical cards and ink stamps, perhaps send out some holographic or other security-coded sticker with online orders. People who don’t get to the store can either post in a card filled with stickers or submit 10 serial codes (needs some trust or non-basic serial numbering) and get a discount code back. Much as I like tech toys, I think I and most people like to be able to see how many points away from their next free c/c/k they are.
